Working with Angels
Not long ago I was on the phone with my amazing friend, Kari Nicholson. She was sharing how she had been re-reading our book on angels and having some awesome encounters! I was excited about what she was experiencing as she began to co-labor with the company of heaven and asked if I could share her story.
Now we have previously discussed the angelic “unemployment line” many people have seen in heaven, and how it is our job to activate angels in our cities because we are God’s delegated representatives on the earth and in this realm. What a great privilege and responsibility!
Here we see Kari’s testimony as a powerful example of this type of prophetic engagement that is truly unexpected in so many ways. Our heavenly Father is surprising and fun and living with Him is always an adventure! As you read, ask God to highlight any takeaways He wants you to glean about walking by His Spirit. May we all be inspired to keep seeking the things above and living every day from heaven’s point of view!

Working with Angels – by Kari Nicholson
I was reading Chapter 10 of Everyday Angels. I stopped to acknowledge the angels during this chapter, as I was feeling convicted I hadn’t paid much attention to them, and after all, we are family!
Closing my eyes and seeing in the Spirit, I saw a group of angels a little distance off. I began to talk with them, addressing them and their bravery and courage to follow our Lord.
One angel came forward out of the group as the spokesperson to speak. He seemed to have a pitchfork in his hand. In fact, they all seemed to. I didn’t like this, as I immediately thought of the devil carrying a pitchfork, like a grim reaper, as I’ve seen depicted in different movies growing up. I began to discount that I was actually seeing in the Spirit at all – that surely, this is not right. But then, other thoughts came right after of the Scripture on the fields being white with harvest, ready to be reaped. And how pitchforks are used in agricultural settings to reap – hello, and thank you Holy Spirit for getting my thoughts corrected! I felt reassured now to continue forward in this encounter.
It seemed I was supposed to do something or release them. They seemed a little disheartened however when I attempted to do this. I wasn’t sure what I was missing on sending them out, but I decided I would just go about my day and see what other information the Lord would bring my way.
Over the past several weeks prior to this, I had been praying with some others about a demonic principality in our city. Where I live, most believers know about at least one demonic principality that is over the city called the Keeper of the Plains, an American Indian statue here in the heartland of Kansas (see picture). This statue is erected over our downtown area and has popped up over multiple parks and city features. It was very much on my heart to do something about it and we were seeking the Lord on the what and how. In fact, we felt like we were supposed to go walk the downtown area, but didn’t have all the details on it.

The same day of encountering the group of angels, I stepped outside later that afternoon to sit in the sun. There is a tree that I often see that resembles the Keeper of the Plains statue, so this was once again brought to my attention. But I had just read in Chapter 10 (p. 141):
[…] pastors and Christians have maps, and grids of the demons in their cities and can point to the streets where the demons are. But when I ask, “What are the territorial angels over your city?” They can’t even name one! Most people know about territorial spirits, but they know about the demonic, not the angelic. If you bring the angel who is supposed to be ruling that city and unleash him, things will happen!”
Wow, I was really convicted now! I started talking to the Lord, “God, just like the book says, I know the demons in my city and where they are, but not the angels. I know the Keeper of the Plains. But who are the angelic spirits over this city?” And immediately shot back at me was the “Reaper of the Plains”! I laughed out loud. What?! Really?! Is that You, Lord?!
I went inside and decided to actually look up the Scripture about the fields being white for harvest. John 4:34-38 states,
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.”
Wow! I was astounded and felt reassured I was hearing the Lord correctly on all of this, after just reading this passage that mentions reaping four different times. And of course you would need a pitchfork for this kind of work!
A few days later, I was able to share with one of the other women I’d been praying with about this. She, too, felt this was of the Lord. And now the Lord had put the mission together, as Chapter 9 details one of Joe Brock’s angelic missions (p. 124-125) where the Lord instructed him to put anointing oil in a pop bottle, poke a small hole in the bottom, and go on his prayer walk, allowing anointing oil to flow out while no one would know the difference. Well hallelujah!
We picked our day and went out with a 20 oz Mountain Dew bottle poured out and filled with anointing oil. We were able to walk and pray, releasing oil as we remitted and repented for the sins of the people and for the sins committed on the land (Jn. 20:23; Dan. 9:3-19). Once we felt the go ahead, we then released the Reapers of the Plains to come forth and take their rightful place over our city and to reap the souls for this great harvest! The atmosphere shifted and we were greatly encouraged that we had done our part of the mission in releasing the reaping angels to be able to do the full extent of their job!
Thank You Jesus, and thank you Charity and Joe for such insightful and biblical teaching and experiences on partnering with our extended family – God’s holy angels – to do the work of the ministry and to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to this earth!
What We Can Learn
Glory bumps! And thank you, Kari, for putting the principles into practice, cooperating with the company of heaven, and showing us how it’s done. I love this!
There are so many things we can learn from Kari’s beautiful example. For starters, she didn’t give up when at first what she thought she saw in the spirit seemed confusing, made up, or wrong. Instead, she pondered and prayed into it, honoring the spontaneous thoughts that came to her and following Holy Spirit’s lead. Then when she asked the right question, she got the right answer!
Most importantly, she confirmed her supernatural experiences with Scripture and discovered what she was sensing was right there in the Bible all along. She laid the spiritual groundwork by prayerfully removing any legal right that darkness had to be there and she never forced anything. Kari waited until she felt peace about the timing to release the angels of light and she kept in step with heaven throughout. Woohoo and well done, sister, for playing your part in the unfolding miracle!
